Band Directors

Mr. Erickson

Andy Erickson teaches the high school 9th Grade Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band as well as some of the middle school band lessons. Erickson has taught Band in the St. Anthony – New Brighton School District for over twenty-five years. This is his twenty first year as the high school band director. Under Erickson’s direction, the St. Anthony Village High School Concert Band has performed at the MMEA Midwinter Clinic twice. He grew up in Missoula, Montana where he played under the baton of his father, Richard Erickson. In 1995 he graduated from St. Olaf College, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. He earned his Master of Music Education Degree at Vandercook College of Music in 2012. He is a member of the Minnesota Band Directors Association, Minnesota Music Educators Association, and plays bassoon in the Minnesota Symphonic Winds.

Mr. Ravndal

Chris Ravndal has been teaching Middle School and 5th Grade Bands in St. Anthony Village since January 1991. Beyond rehearsal and lesson responsibilities, he also assists with the high school pep bands and is the Executive Director of the Patriots Marching Band. Under his direction, the SAMS 8th Grade Band has performed at the MMEA Midwinter Clinic and at the ASBDA National Convention. Born in Winter Park, Florida, he spent most of his band "growing up" years in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and earned Music Education degrees from St. Olaf College (B.A.) and the University of Minnesota (M.A.). A trumpet student of Richard Metzger, Tom Rolfs, and David Baldwin, Chris plays in the Lake Wobegon® Brass Band and the Up North Brass Quintet. He has served in leadership roles in the Lake Wobegon® Brass Band, Minnesota Symphonic Winds, Minnesota Band Directors' Association, and the National Band Association, and has led MMEA clinic sessions on behalf of MBDA, ASBDA, and NBA.

Ms. Westermeyer

Jill Westermeyer teaches 7th grade band and some 6th and 8th grade lessons at St Anthony Middle School and private clarinet lessons in her home studio. She also frequently serves as a contest judge and plays clarinet in the Minnesota Symphonic Winds. From 2001 to 2014, she taught band at the Minnehaha Academy Upper School in Minneapolis. Prior to teaching at Minnehaha Academy, she taught middle school band in Ankeny, Iowa and 4-12 grade band in Parkston, South Dakota. Westermeyer grew up in Spanaway, Washington where she studied clarinet with Dileep Gangolli. She graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. While attending St. Olaf, she studied with JoAnn Polley, and was assistant principal clarinet in the St. Olaf Band and St. Olaf Orchestra. She has done postgraduate work at University of South Dakota, Iowa State University, University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin River Falls.
