Concert Attire
The purpose of having a dress code for concerts is to make sure the audience's attention is focused on the ensemble as a whole and not any particular individual(s) within the ensemble. The clothes worn should be modest, not designed to draw attention to one's appearance.
This season, SAVHS Bands will dress in "concert black" for all performances. Please read the guidelines below for your concert apparel.
All musicians should dress in all black. The following are the requirements for any concert apparel and must be followed. All Items must be plain black and solid (without patterns).
Black dress pants/slacks (must be loose, not form fitting) or long to mid-calf length dress or skirt (student choice). Leggings, sweatpants, or jeans are NOT acceptable as dress pants/slacks.
Black dress shirts or blouses with long or short sleeves.
Black socks or black panty hose.
Black dress shoes. Shoes must be closed toe. Sneakers, flip flops, or open toe shoes are not acceptable.
Neck ties and jackets are not required.
Keep jewelry to a minimum.
No low-cut necklines or backs. Your midriff should also not be visible.
All musicians must have toes, knees, midriff, and shoulders covered by clothing while seated (if you are required to sit while you perform).
The thrift store can be a great place to purchase inexpensive dress clothes. HERE are items available for free that have been donated. PLEASE contact Mr. Erickson at aerickson@isd282.org for help with any of this. This includes financial help.
